HARPERBURY HERTFORDSHIRE

SLD were commissioned by DoE for the design of a new secondary school to support a new housing zone in Hertfordshire.  The proposed site was set within the Greenbelt and an area designated for new homes.  However, the impact of he building and associated sport pitches had to be carefully considered to minimise the visual impact on landscape character and the openness of the Greenbelt. A full LVIA was carried out and verified views agreed with the Local Authority, the principle of development was accepted by the Local Authority after considerable liaison.  However, the scheme did not proceed as easier sites to develop were found during avoidance of impact considerations.
